About Us
About My Parent Playbook
My Parent Playbook exists because the gap between clinical parenting guidance and something an everyday parent can actually use is wider than it should be. Every guide, article, and resource on this site is designed to close that gap — evidence-informed, written in plain language, and built to be used immediately.
I publish resources for parents of babies, toddlers, and school-age children, covering feeding, sleep, emotional development, and the everyday challenges that don't come with a manual.
What I Publish
- Downloadable guides grounded in developmental psychology and current health authority guidance
- Practical frameworks that work in real family life, not just ideal conditions
- Content cross-checked against recognized sources — including the NHS, American Academy of Pediatrics, CDC, and ASCIA — before publication
The C-A-L-M Framework
Everything I create is built around the C-A-L-M Framework — my own synthesis of well-established principles from attachment theory, child development research, and everyday parenting practice. It is not a clinical or diagnostic tool, but a practical set of four pillars that, when woven into everyday family life, create the conditions for children to thrive emotionally and developmentally.
C
Connection
Children develop best when they feel securely connected to their caregivers. Connection is not a reward for good behaviour — it is the foundation everything else is built on.
A
Autonomy
Children who are given age-appropriate independence develop confidence, resilience, and the ability to self-regulate. Autonomy is not permissiveness — it is trust, scaffolded with boundaries.
L
Language
The words we use with children shape how they understand themselves and the world. Rich language environments — through conversation, reading, and storytelling — build emotional vocabulary and cognitive capacity.
M
Mindfulness
Calm, present parenting is not about being perfect — it is about returning to regulation, again and again. Mindfulness in family life creates the emotional safety children need to grow.
About the Founder
My Parent Playbook was founded by Femi Olumeyan, a parent of two children aged 8 and 10, with a BSc in Medical Physiology and an MPH (Master of Public Health).
The site grew out of a practical problem: when navigating early feeding and child health decisions for his own children, Femi found that the most reliable guidance — from the NHS, AAP, CDC, and ASCIA — was accurate but rarely written in a form that was immediately usable by an everyday parent. With the background to read primary sources directly, he began translating that guidance into structured, practical resources. What started as tools for his own family became the foundation of this site.
Every piece of health-related content on My Parent Playbook is researched and cross-checked against current guidance from recognized authorities before publication. This site does not provide medical advice, and nothing here replaces the individualised guidance of a paediatrician, GP, or specialist — but it is written by someone with the training to get the underlying information right.
